Is Mouthwash A Must In Apex NC?

By April 10, 2015No Comments

aesthetic dentistry MorrisvilleMany folks in the Apex, NC, Cary, and Morrisville area wonder if daily mouthwash should be part of their dental routine. Brushing and flossing are the two habits that have the greatest impact on dental health, so if you’re doing these two things, is mouthwash necessary?

If you’ve ever walked the aisles of any Cary, North Carolina drugstore, you know that there are many different types of mouthwash. Some tout their germ-killing abilities, others brag of fluoride content, and some claim to whiten teeth while freshening the breath. These are all great benefits, but will they make or break your dental health?

I’m Dr. Allan Acton of Cary Family Dental in Cary. When my dental patients ask about mouthwash, I usually tell them that as long as they follow the directions on the bottle, mouthwash can only benefit dental health, even if it doesn’t live up to every promise as advertised.

For people suffering from bad breath (and the friends, family, and co-workers who are suffering with them) mouthwash can be a very effective breath freshener and can bring relief to everyone in their social circle.
