April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month

By April 1, 2018No Comments

April is Oral Cancer Awareness month and we are joining the national screening movement to end oral cancer.

This month only you can receive an oral cancer screening for only $25! And the appointment takes less than 30 minutes.

Many people know that smoking and tobacco use are major risk factors for oral cancer, however, the fastest growing cause of oral cancer is HPV or human papillomavirus.

The fact is, every hour of every day in the U.S., someone dies of oral cancer, which is the sixth-most common diagnosed form of the disease.

The five-year survival rate is only 50 percent, and oral cancer is one of the few cancers whose survival rate has not improved.

There are many healthy, young individuals who are highly susceptible to this type of cancer.

The best way to prevent oral cancer is to understand the risks associated and to engage in regular screenings.

DON’T WAIT.
The death rate associated with oral cancer remains particularly high due to it being routinely discovered late in its development.

CHECK YOURSELF.
Oral Cancer can happen to anyone. Learn how to perform a self-exam so you can detect the signs and take the necessary steps.

We are trained to diagnose, treat, and prevent oral health problems. Please let us now if you have any questions about your oral health during your next appointment. Take care of your teeth!
