Cary, NC — When Kelli first came to Cary Family Dental, she was extremely anxious – she hadn’t been to the dentist in five years.
A Traumatic Past
Kelli came to Cary Family Dental after her previous dentist retired. She had experienced some traumatic dental experiences in the past was extremely picky – and hesitant – about selecting a dental care provider.
When she decided to give our office a try, she hadn’t been to the dentist in more than five years – that’s equivalent to ten missed appointments.
A New, Better Experience
Between root canals, fillings and periodontal therapy, Kelli had a lot of work that needed to be done. The trust she gave us when she decided to try out our office meant a lot to us, and we were ready to meet her specific, personal needs.
Before Kelli even left for her big appointment, we asked her to take a Halcion pill.
This is a pill that patients can take before their dental appointments to ease anxieties, and it’s so effective that we require a friend or family member to drive you to the appointment. This type of sedation, for most people, gives them an amnesia effect, and they don’t remember any or much of the dental appointment.
Once we started working, we combined the Halcion sedation with nitrous oxide (which is known to many as laughing gas). With these simple, easy-to-administer drugs, we were able to complete all of Kelli’s treatments in one appointment.
Most importantly, though, Kelli felt no apprehension, pain or hesitancy. In fact, she barely remembers anything.
The Aftermath
Kelli was so excited at the end of treatment and is now on a “recall” appointment basis. When we told her that we would like to take before and after pictures, she said that, if it weren’t for Dr. Acton and Cary Family Dental, there wouldn’t be an after.
Now that’s cause to celebrate!
